Felicia Anumah serves as Editor in chief of the African Journal of Endocrinology and metabolism (AJEM). Her research interests include diabetes prevention, hyperglycaemic emergencies and diabetic foot disease. She has presented over 80 peer reviewed abstracts at national and international conferences and published over 50 articles in peer reviewed Journals.
The author of five books: “Food and Lifestyle Diseases: A Focus on Diabetes and Hypertension”, lead author “Diabetes Foot care for Nigeria”, “Foot care Guide for Persons with Diabetes”, “Lifting the Burden of Diabetes: An Empowering Handbook”, “Being A Christian Doctor”, and a sixth is a chapter titled: what every woman and family need to know about diabetes published by Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria.
Currently, she is the President of Diabetic Foot Nigeria Initiative (DFNI), Board member, Pan African Diabetes Foot Study Group (PADFSG) and Nigeria Representative, D-Foot International. Felicia Anumah has a Diabetes and Endocrine Centre, built and commissioned by the First Lady of Nigeria, DR. Mrs. Aisha Buhari, the first of its kind in Nigeria, named Prof. Felicia Anumah Diabetes and Endocrine Centre” in the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital in 2021. She is passionate about prevention of lifestyle diseases especially diabetes and hypertension, the chairperson of a non-governmental organization: Mark Anumah Medical Mission (MAMM).

A Senior Lecturer with the Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Health Sciences, University of Abuja, Yakubu Lawal is a Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist. He has several publications in both local and international peer-reviewed journals, with over 100 citations, and has presented several papers in topics related to diabetes mellitus and endocrinology, at both local and international conferences. Lawal served as a resource person in several public lectures on Diabetes Awareness and Continuing Medical Education (CME) organised by Diabetes Association of Nigeria (DAN), and the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) respectively.
He underwent and completed the Residency Training Programme for the award of Fellowship in Internal Medicine, with sub-specialization in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria, and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. Dr Olusola T. Ephraim-Oluwanuga is a Psychiatrist and Certified Addiction Professional. She is a Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry at the College of Health Sciences, University of Abuja and Honorary Chief Consultant Psychiatrist at the National Hospital Abuja, where she has worked since 2005. Prof. Jamda is the acting Provost, College of Health Sciences, University of Abuja, Nigeria. He also chair the COVID-19 Committee and the Board of University Health Services of the same University. He serves as the patron of the Tobacco Free Club and Medical Students Association of the University of Abuja.
Prof Jamda, went to the University of Jos, and and Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife where he bagged his MBBS and Master of Public Health degree (MPH) respectively. He got his medical degree (MBBS) in 2003 from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. M.Sc and PhD degrees in Human Physiology in 2010 and 2015 respectively.
He worked as a clinician between 2004 and 2007 in Sokoto State Specialist Hospital in the Department of Surgery before going into academic medicine. He joined the Department of Human Physiology, University of Abuja in 2007, and has been teaching medical student and doing research in Human Physiology with special interest in Cardiovascular Physiology and Neurophysiology.
He is a core ‘Human’ physiologist with research interest tilted more towards human subjects with the aim of bridging the gap between the ‘bench’ and the ‘bedside’.

Born on the 8th of August, 1958 in Manchok, Kaura LGA, Kaduna State; Sarah Abagai holds a Higher National Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics, from Kaduna Polytechnic; PGD in Health and Social Service Development, from the Institute of Development Administration of Nigeria; and MSc. Degree in Social Work (with specialization in Healthcare) from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
Sarah Abagai is an accomplished leader, mentor and teacher in the dietetics profession. She is a standing member of the Expanded Council of the Institute and also belongs to the Body of Fellows.
A writer and the author of the book “Basic Concepts of Healthy Nutrition”; Sarah Abagai is also a public speaker and regular guest on radio and television. Among her numerous achievements as a member in Council of the Institute; Sarah Abagai influenced the establishment of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Ahamdu Bello University Teaching Hospital(ABUTH), Shika in 2008, and contributed immensely to the process of upgrading the department to a training center in 2020.

Prof. Olufemi Fasanmade received his MBBS, from the University of Ibadan in 1987. He had his residency training in the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, (LUTH), Nigeria between 1989 and 1994. He was a research assistant in the same unit 1994-1996. He had a short training fellowship in City Hospital Schwabing, Munich, Germany in 1994
He was appointed consultant endocrinologist in 1997 by the General Hospital Lagos Island, Nigeria where he was from 1997 up till 2002. He was appointed lecturer in the College of Medicine, University of Lagos (CMUL) in 2002 and has remained there where he steadily rose to the post of Professor in 2019. He has been involved in several research areas and had several grants including that of the AADM study group which has brought so much new knowledge in the area of diabetes susceptible genes in Africans and African Americans, the DiabCare Nigeria project which characterized the poor level of diabetes control across several tertiary centers of health in Nigeria, the IDMPS Program amongst others.
Prof Fasanmade is the Unit Head of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism division of the Department of Medicine in the CMUL and the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), he completed a 4-year tenure as the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee of LUTH in 2019. Thereafter he was appointed Chief Clinical Coordinator in the NSIA-LUTH cancer centre in September 2020 a position he holds till present. He is the President of the Endocrine and Metabolism Society of Nigeria and the immediate past Chairman of the Nigeria Chapter of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. He is an Examiner and the sub-specialty head, endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism of the faculty of Medicine of the West African College of Physicians.
He has authored and co-authored 5 books and has 120 publications in peer reviewed journals and more than 300 abstracts and posters presented locally and internationally. He has trained/supervised more than 30 fellows (specialists) in medicine, surgery, family medicine, radiology and other specialities who are at helm of affairs in many hospitals and universities within and outside country. Professor Chioma Unachukwu is a Professor of Medicine and Endocrinology of the College of Health Sciences, University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Professor Unachukwu is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP) and Fellow of the American College of Endocrinologists (FACE).
